We decided not to fly solo, and we chose to team up with those brands that have a story to tell, a solid environmental respect and a clear purpose beyond just making money. But why any well established brand would even consider a partnership with our newly established Rio Bauana online store? Well... this is a small trade secret we cherish, but the fact is we're now offering well known and respected brands here. The lines of products we offer from each brand are strongly related to our own DNA, and represent some of their most popular and bestselling offers. And for your extra peace of mind while shopping with us, most brands' orders are exclusively fulfilled by highly trusted and well known third parties such as Amazon, Nordstrom, etc. By the way... Prices are precisely those practiced by each individual brand on their own online stores. However, if you buy from us you'll be helping the Sustainability part of the Bauana Project. Products Aside from bestselling products from the well known brands you'll find below, Rio Bauana offers an array of products individually sourced from different suppliers, all sharing - in one way or the other - our same vision of environmental respect and clarity of purpose. Since we're here for the long run, we're not in any particular hurry to offer you everything there is under the sun. Our search for the perfect product is a thoroughly excruciating, yet fun process for us. We love to do it! We check everything. From the history and reliability of suppliers to their credit worthiness; from the raw material sources to the manufacturing processes and conditions; from the quality and acceptance of final products to lead times and market commitments; from responsiveness to substitutions or refunds to excellence in customer service. You'd be surprised how these exhausting tasks give us, in the long run, the peace of mind to progressively find and supply the best possible products. Nothing is perfect though, but there's pride in pursuing perfection. By the way... Prices are essentially low & fair. Some are the lowest on the market, some are just simply fair. Our focus is helping the Bauana Sustainability Project. If a product is profitable enough for that, great. If not, we'll offer something else. Thanks for your patronage! |

This is our own brand, born from an urgent necessity to help 1,500 underprivileged people living within our land - the Carolina Farm - in the heart of the Amazon rain forest. You can read our story at the About Us page and understand why we so proudly promote brands that show an intimate commitment with real environmental protection, in total contrast with all common "green-washing" practices we see nowadays. Our vision is to replicate (not copy) the experience of the Argan Oil initiative in Northwest Africa within our own environment, the Amazon rain forest. Using local ingredients, of course, we may help local communities in the future. In the meantime, Bauana Naturals is focused on providing healthier alternatives to well-known products, replacing harmful ingredients with their natural & organic counterparts. It's already a cool thing to do. |

One of the leading brands almost exclusively dedicated to sell products containing Argan Oil, Moroccanoil contributes to keep the "Argan Oil Story" alive, helping a whole eco-system to survive and thrive in Northwest Africa. You may read about "The Argan Oil Story" in our own Bauana Naturals page. We'll just reproduce part of it here, so you'll understand the importance of promoting Moroccanoil's brand. The Argan Oil Story - Social Impacts The production of argan oil has always had a socio-economic function. At present, argan oil production supports approximately 2.2 million people in the main argan oil producing region (the Arganeraie). Much of the argan oil produced today is made by a number of women’s co-operatives. Co-sponsored by the Social Development Agency (SDA) with the support of the European Union, the UCFA (Union des Cooperatives des Femmes de l’Arganeraie) is the largest union of argan oil co-operatives in Morocco. It comprises twenty-two co-operatives that are found in other parts of the region (e.g., Coopérative Al Amal, Coopérative Amalou N’Touyag, Coopérative Tissaliwine, Coopérative ArganSense, and Coopérative Maouriga). Employment in the co-operatives provides women with an income, which many have used to fund education for themselves or their children. It has also provided them with a degree of autonomy in a traditionally male-dominated society and has helped many become more aware of their rights. The success of the argan co-operatives has also encouraged other producers of agricultural products to adopt the co-operative model. The establishment of the co-operatives has been aided by support from within Morocco, notably the Fondation Mohamed VI pour la Recherche et la Sauvegarde de l’Arganier (Mohammed VI Foundation for Research and Protection of the Argan Tree, and from international organisations, including Canada’s International Development Research Centre and the European Commission. Funding has enabled technical support for the production and marketing of argan oil and for technical, professional and personal development of the women involved in the co-operatives. |

Since the early 1980s, L'Occitane has been committed to a fair-trade partnership with the women of Burkina Faso who make Shea butter. This exceptional ingredient takes care of women’s skin, and contributes to their empowerment. In 1980 Olivier Baussan discovered Shea during a trip to Burkina Faso, this sacred tree whose name means "life"! The harvest is reserved for women, used in cooking, for skin care or during sacred rituals. Processed by hand, it has surprising effects on the skin of those who handle it: instead of damaging, it softens! A Magic Ingredient Intrigued by these amazing properties, Olivier Baussan decided to develop a range of products based on Shea butter, which was an immediate success with women. L'OCCITANE discovered that butter produced by hand in cooperatives is particularly rich in Omega 6 and karitene. These molecules have unique properties that help to moisturize, nourish and protect the skin every day. A Sustainable Industry To meet the growing demand, L'Occitane created a co-development program with local women. Today, more than 600 tons of this ingredient of a thousand virtues travels each year between Burkina Faso and the L'Occitane factory in Manosque. And there are more than 15,000 women in Burkina Faso working in this industry. |
